new here
Hello!
I am new here. I belong to other SBD groups but they are sooo
active it’s hard to really get to know people and they repeat the
same topics over and over again.
My name is Tam and I am 33. I have about 30 lbs to lose. I’ve been
on WW’s for the past year and haven’t lost a single pound. I
workout 5-6 days a week doing cardio and have a personal trainer
twice a week. My mom and girlfriend are on this diet and are having
a huge success so I thought I’d give it a try. I am on day 4 of the
SBD and things are going okay. Today the cravings are terrible. I
want everything that I can’t have even if I don’t like the food.
So, I’ve been sleep a lot today and that’s has helped with the
cravings. As of this morning I haven’t lost a ounce and my body fat
has increased by 1.3%. I am not happy with the increase of bf but I
am willing to give the diet a full 2 week try. I am following the
book rather closely and everything that I’ve eaten and made from the
book has been rather well. I just spend so much time in the kitchen.
Well, that’s it for now. Hope everyone is losing big time and I am
looking forward to hearing more from you all.

Hi all,
I’m new to the group. I decided to search for groups on SBD because I
need HELP! I have been on Phase I twice in the past 3 months and both
times I’ve never lost a pound. I just moved on to Phase II because I
like the food. It isn’t a lot different for me and hubby than my our
old eating habits, because we’ve always ate healhty for the most part
plus it is food we can feed to our 4 year old (she is in love with
the surprise mashed potatoes and the ricotta desserts) so I don’t
have to cook twice. I ve cut out bread and potatoes totally and
trying to severely cut back on Coca Cola (i’m an addict - was 6+ cans
per day down to 3 or less). My husband is in the Army and needed to
quickly lose a few extra lbs. he gained while on 3 weeks leave and
from his 8 month Afghanistan deployment and he did…close to 15! I’m
so jealous! I can’t understand why I’m not losing anything, not even
inches.
Anyway, that is my story. I look forward to interacting with you all!

Hello everyone! I wanted to take a minute to introduce myself. My
name is Cat and I have been off and on SB since November of last year.
I LOVE the SB diet! It is the greatest plan I have ever tried. I go
off of it every once in a while when I am feeling burned out and give
myself a break and then jump right back on.
Monday I am starting phase one again and I am really excited to have
this group here for me during that time. Looking forward to reading
all your posts. Cat

I’m new here and just finished reading the book and ridding house of bad
Glad to be aboard and hope I can cry to you all during my phase 1 which
carbs…most were gone already. Then I find out husband has diabetes so
now i’m in major “healthier” eating mode. I’m 38 with one child. My
husband is 55. I’m a good 50 pounds overweight
begins on monday and includes 1 trip to mother-in-laws house! She is a
low carb or diabetics worse nightmare! And funny enough she’s diabetic
and really does well with her diet but must screw with everyone elses.
I called her and told her about her son and that I would be on a strict
carb phase at that time and she had the gall to whine about not being
able to cook ANYTHING! Usually a week-end trip includes 3 different
desserts. Massive amounts of starches and tons of food. She will just
have to learn by the amount of un-eaten food that she can’t control our
habits. I actually lost a ton of weight…30 pounds of WW but then did
holidays at her house and gained weight and lost all my willpower cause
there was no food I could eat without gaining weight!
Ok, I’m done crying now.

Hello
My name is Angie and I just joined the group. I am 28, 5′6″, 220
pounds. I need to lose about 80 pounds to be what the Dr’s
call “healthy”. To me that is too much, but we will see how it goes. I
have high blood pressure. Today is was 166/112. WOW! Dr put me on
Atenolol for that. He said I need to diet and exercise and
recommended this diet. I bought the book and reading through it
tonight. I am a very picky eater so I don’t know how this is going to
work. For the 2 week induction my book say to eat eggs for breakfast.
YUCK! I can’t even stand the smell of eggs, it makes me want to throw
up. So I don’t know what to do. Does anybody have any suggestions. I
really want to make this work. I exercise quite a bit. I ride my bike
alot so that will help Im sure of it. If I could get a response back
about the eggs I will appreciate it. Thanks so much

Angie,
Many of us can’t “do” the eggs every morning, or at all. I just eat a lunch
type of meal instead, maybe turkey bacon with low fat cheese with celery or
something. Just have fun with it, relax. It becomes second nature really
quickly. I’m doing one more week of induction then moving on to Phase 2.
I’ve lost 8 lbs. but that came to a fast halt when I started seriously
exercise, so now I’m going with how the clothes fit.
I’m 5′6″ and shooting for 140 as well — 30 lbs to go — with border line
blood pressure and my Dr. recommended SB. I walk and am taking both Pilates
3X a week, and a restorative Yoga 2X.
Keep biking!

Congratulations on your decision to improve your health, Angie! You might want to read
up on Atenolol and discuss it with your doctor. It can be counter productive to weight loss.
Good luck!

Hello everyone, I posted a message last week but it hasn’t made it to
the group yet so I thought I’d try again.
This is my second time around on the SBD. I did it a couple of years
ago for 3 months and did very well but fell off and haven’t been able
to get back on.
So far now I’ve been back on the Beach since last week and doing pretty
well. I can already notice a difference in my clothes.
Looking forward to being a member of this group.

Hi,
My dh and I are planning on doing South Beach together. The program
was suggested to me by my doctor at my last physical. He researched it
and has been doing it himself for two years. I wonder if there are any
free menu plans for someone like me who is cooking challenged. I want
to keep phase 1 really simple. We don’t mind repeating the same meals
several times through the week. If I had say three menu ideas for
breakfast lunch and dinner I could rotate the meals and that would be
fine. I need to keep this simple and easy for us to be successful.
The fact that I have never been good at meal planning and prep is
probably a huge contributing factor to our weight problems. Thanks for
any help anyone can give.
