Introduction
Hi, my name is Mary Ann and I’m going to be starting the diet
tomorrow. I’m 5′2″ and weight 150. I’d like to get down to 115 -
120. My husband just recently deployed to Iraq and my goal is to
WOW him when he gets back sometime in 2005. My daughter is getting
married in October 2005 and I joke with her and tell her my goal is
to look better than her future mother-in-law LOL.
I’ve tried all kinds of diets in the past from the cabbage soup to
weight watchers. The SBD sounds nutritionally sound and flexable
enough that anyone can find foods that they like. I also like that
you’re able to gradually add in the foods that you love. I
don’t “love” potatoes, rice, pasta or bread but I like knowing that
eventually I’ll be able to have them occassionally. My problem is
the sweet tooth and night time snacking.
I’ve joined the local YMCA to get my exercise in and not become a
hermit while my husband is gone. I’m sure I’ll be posting successes
as well as not-so-successes. I hope to find some good recipes here
and that soon I’ll have some tips and recipes to share.
Well, that’s it about me. I’ll get on with reading the posts now!

Hi MaryAnne,
I too had to smile when I read your introduction. I am
60,retired,married,11 grnadchildren,1 cat. We live in NW WA. Your
post just about discribes me. I need to lose another 25 pounds. I
belong to TOPS, we meet once a week and I weigh in at that time. The
SBD seems to be a healthy plan and I am looking forward to learning
how to eat well. Pasta, potato, rice, butter, all my first loves. The
sweets I can do without. I am going to make chili tomorrow, a big
pot. I love chili and I could really live on it. So I hope to get
this weight off due to health problems, degenerative bone disease and
FMS.Other then that, healthy as a horse!:)Have a goood evening.

Hello,
Love Barb
My name is Barbara and I live in WV and I was on the South Beach Diet a year or
so ago. I had lost from 210 pounds to 189 and then somehow, someway I got off
of the program and gained back and have been teetering between 204 and 201. I
am miserable. I have acid reflux and just really don’t feel well at all. I
need to do the basics again and pray that I can find my book so that I can get
started.
I am hoping to find support on this group. I find if I hold myself accountable
to someone I do much better. I guess that is all for now. I am excited I found
this group!

Hi.
I just joined this group. I’m Shannon in SoCal. Hubby and I are
starting South Beach tomorrow morning. We have a huge wedding to go
to on the beach tonight, and I just can’t start today!
Anyway, I am really needing to lose 45-50 lbs, and hubby needs to lose
probably 30 or so.
I’ve read up on this program, and collected recipes, and really
believe this is the healthiest way to eat. We plan on making it a
lifestyle.
I hope to get to know you all, and get and give support when needed.
I’m off to clean out the pantry and throw out the naughty stuff. I
have two toddlers, so can’t toss everything, just the stuff that will
be too tempting!
