hi, a question from a friend
Hi, I’m here again but this time is not for me: there’s a friend of
mine who is perplexed about one thing and I suggested her asking the
group.
She has been on a diet for one year and she has lost about 50/60 lbs
(30 kg: I hope the transformation is right!) Now she has been on a
stall for some months, but she needs to lose about 20 lbs more, also
because she has a weak form of diabete (sorry I don’t know the
English for this…)She is afraid to begin SBD because of the big
amount of proteins and fats in phase I, which are really more than
that she is introducing with her current eating style. Has anybody
of you lived such a kind of experience? I told her that probably her
metabolism is too low now as she really eats too little, but if you
have any other ideas they are welcome.

Canadian Bacon is much more like ham and has very little fat (I’m not sure why they call it bacon). It’s usually sold sliced in very small packages and is fairly expensive, but tasty.
I get sick if I eat eggs by themselves, but seem to be ok if I make egg salad or devilled eggs (I make both with mayonnaise, paprika, salt, freshly ground black pepper, garlic, and onions or onion powder). I can stand omelets if they have enough cheese in them (adding vegetables and lean meat helps, too). If you throw in a little vanilla, cinnamon, and a sugar substitute (I prefer Splenda but I don’t know if they sell that in Italy), that’s good and doesn’t really taste like you’re eating eggs.
You could always bake them mixed up with cream cheese, vanilla, and sugar substitute and make some cheesecake…haven’t tried that one yet, but am planning on it this week.
I personally love chickpeas on taco salads (that will be dinner tonight if I can manage to get myself up and out to the grocery store) and split pea soup (that was lunch today). I also put a variety of beans in homemade soups. Beans are one of the most complete foods because they are high in fiber AND protein, so I try to eat some a few days every week. There are several kinds that are on the Phase 1 approved list. I have a can of Southern Style red beans and am going to make some brown rice to eat with them when I get back to Phase 2.
