Caffeine makes the blood sugar spike, as well...aspartame does, also.
Dr. A did say in the book that he wouldnt take caffeine away form people,
but I drink decaf and am fine with it. I weaned myself off of it while on
Atkins, mixing coffee half and half, regular and decaf. Eventually, just
went to decaf.

|Does anybody know the reason why caffeine is not permitted? Have you
|ever tried Italian espresso? It's the way we wake up every morning, so
|it's really hard work for me without it. But... if there is a special
|reason I may try to stop drinking it, just for a while.
|I'd like to thank you all as I've read all the letters since the
|beginning, also because I wanted to understand better how the diet
|worked. What I realized is that sometimes it is really hard going on
|alone through this path towards healthy eating, but together it can be
|not only possible, also enjoyable. Please, everybody, hold on and
|don't give up; I started one week ago and I've already lost 3 lbs (1,5
|kg), which can seem not much, but on me it's a lot (my weight is about
|130 and I'm 1,64 m tall - sorry I don't know how much it is in your
|measure units - i'll find it). I only have a little problem: I got a
|bit constipation because of the change of food. Do you have any advice
|about that?
|Thanks a lot
|bye and let's win our challenge!!
