HI! My name is Wendy. I am starting the south beach diet
tommorow. Just finished the book. I am 5′6 and 203lbs. When I got
married 4 years ago I was 135 lbs. It was almost as if the weight
came up on me overnight! I didnt even realize it until I saw a
picture of me holding my son in a bathingsuit. I was in shock. I
didnt even know who I was. So i’m trying this diet becasue I do not
like to starve. I do have a question. Is there an aloted amount of
carbs you shouldnt go over? I know your to follow the list i’m just
curious if someone knows if there is a specific amount of carbs. I
bought this low carb steak sauce (1carb) would it be ok? Thanks
for your help and I’m glad to be here!

Dear Carmen,

You might like vegetables better with a little cheese melted on top. Of course, salad you cannot, but you can cut up some lower fat cheese in salads. Do not give up. A little at a time, you can get used to more veggies.

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2003

I have not been following the diet for about 2 months. I have been so busy - eating out alot, etc. Finally got DD graduated from high school. Now starting tomorrow morning I back on Phase 1. I re-read all the information and have stocked the frig. Can’t wait to start feeling better again. I will let you know how things go.

Gained one back

Thursday, September 18th, 2003

I gained one pound back. I had hoped to have more of a loss this week, but I ate too much. I will make it one of these days.

It looks like it is going to rain again. Things are surely lush and green here in NY state now. We can enjoy that for quite awhile.

Yes storing your greens in a plastic bag, with slices in it for breathing is most helpful. Ziploc used to make vegetable bags years ago, and it is so simple just to make your own.

He updated Phase 1 to include low fat yogurt. You will just have to leave off fruit in Phase 1, and the starches, of course. I found it easy to follow. Your body may feel a little tired at first from the lowering of carbs. You will get used to it. Just rest more.

PS. I found it to be successful, but I am close to goal and lose slower.

Problem…..

Ok…I work out…Lots. Since I have started the diet, I havent
lost any muscle, but it seems like when I lift weights, I feel like
crap and I can’t push the weight like I was before. I just dont
have the energy. Without the carbs I normally ate, my workouts are
just regressing. Is there anything I can do to keep up my blood
glycogen levels to have a good workout?
