Following the recipes

Sunday, March 14th, 2004

I don’t think it is necessary in ANY diet to follow the recipes
listed in the books. If you only use the food list of approved
foods, then you should do okay. The recipes are just suggestions to
liven up your diet so you don’t get bored or frustrated with it.
Also, the amounts you eat don’t have to be measured out in the SB
Diet. Eat a little, eat a lot. As long as you are full. I find it
helpful for the “snacks” portions to measure those out ahead of time,
though. Little snack-sized baggies with 15 almonds counted out, for
example.
I did Atkins about 3 years ago and rapidly lost almost 50 lbs.
Sadly, I worked in an office where there were tempting bagels,
donuts, and cakes ALL the time, so it went right back on and then
some! Now I am on DAY 4 of Phase 1 in the SB. I don’t find myself
craving too many foods, but can’t force myself to eat 3 big meals and
two snacks. I just don’t get that hungry. I drink caffeine-free
Diet Coke and caffeine-free iced tea w/sweetner. I’m missing a glass
of OJ in the morning, but I think I can do without the fruit for a
few more days.
Yesterday, I had sugar-free frozen yogurt (don’t know the fat
content); what are you opinions on this? I had the smallest portion
available.

“On phase 1 do I have to eat the required menus they have. Like some things are expensive and some things I don’t like, can I subsitute them for another item on the foods to use list? example I don’t care for Salmon. can I use Alaskan white fish instead. ”

No, you don’t have to use those recipes. Use the foods list and cook from that. Just remember, no sugar, no potatoes, no corn, no bread, nothing that turns into sugar, for the first two weeks.

Preganancy weight - Lisa

Wednesday, March 10th, 2004

hey Lisa!
i gained about 50# during pregnancy over 2 years ago. i had my first
(and so far only) baby 2 years ago when I was 37, and after that I’ve
been losing weight, but veeeeeeeery slowly. I’ve noticed that I need
to exercise to lose weight, and that can be just walking. In June, I
was walking about 13000 steps everyday, and I lost weight (I don’t
know how much because I didn’t weight myself, I just saw and noticed
the difference), then I got busy again and….well, you know.
I’ll try to start walking again next week after work. I want to be
fit by December for those christmas pictures LOL! And then for my
40th birthday next March.
Keep up the good work and don’t give up!

Hello new to the group

Friday, March 5th, 2004

Hello I am new to this group. And I am also new to the So. Beach Diet.. My husband and I will start the diet this coming Monday. I am anxious to start it but also a little nervious. I have been on so many different diets and programs did fairly good then failing to gain more back. The doctor just sent me my results on my blood test and tells me I am border line diabetic. So I guess that is one thing that tells me to lose pounds.. lots of pounds. I am going to be 64 come october. and incourgment will be welcome as ideas. I have one question . On phase 1 do I have to eat the required menus they have. Like some things are expensive and some things I don’t like, can I subsitute them for another item on the foods to use list? example I don’t care for Salmon. can I use Alaskan white fish instead. thank you Catherine

Is being tired alot par for the course?? I actually have good energy

keep wanting to eat sugar for that old pickmeup. I won’t, but I hope
you can tell me that this will pass…and how long it lasts.
I guess I have low blood sugar. I ate a big salad at lunch. Some
nuts midafternoon. Now I am falling into my monitor. This may be my
last meaningful act of the day! :-) help please!

Do those diet pills, fat burn pills work?

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2004

I’m too scared to try any of those diet pills or fat burning pills.
Has anyone tried them and what was your experience with them? I want
to do my research before I try one. I heard that if you take
Metabolife for too long it messes up your metabolism? is that true?
