HELLO! New Guy from Massachusetts!
Hi
My name is Rod and I just started the diet on the first of the
year. I am doing Phase One now and it is pretty tough giving up so
many of my favorite foods, but I weighed in today at 176, so I have
already lost 5 lbs since I began on January 3. That inspires me to
continue. I am 32 years old, 5′10″ and I would like to weigh in at
163 or, when I dream big, 158 - my college weight. I had been
wearing a 34waist because I had gotten so big, but am already
feeling more like my 32waist self. I would love to be back in 31s
by summer.
I am new to dieting but after about 5 years of gaining 3 pounds a
year I find myself weighing 15 pounds more than I am comfortable
with. This year as I work on my dissertation, my lifestyle has
befome even more sedentary and I recognize the importance of
changing my eating habits.
I planned all of my meals for the entirety of Phase One before I
began the diet, so that I knew exactly what to shop for and could
prepare things ahead of time and, so far, that has helped to keep me
on the straight and narrow. Also, I enjoy cooking, so I have been
making many of the dishes in the book and cookbook - I especially
enjoyed the coconut chicken, the sirloin au poivre (though 4oz
seemed awfully small for a meat portion) and the chicken dish made
with the stouffers spinach.
I am not sure if hummus is on the plan for phase one - but I did eat
a little bit today as my afternoon snack. I am so used to eating an
apple every day that I really do miss my fruit - but I figure in 10
days I can have it again.
I would appreciate any support and will post pics as soon as I can
figure out how!

Hi Abra:
Congrats are starting and working through the anger and
frustration. I find that my emotions are a bit out of whack as
well. Also I have bouts of fatigue, yesterday I just laid down on
the rug in the middle of the room and laid there for 15 minutes,
exhausted - even though I had slept well the night before. I guess
I am used to sugar in my diet to give me energy and I am adjusting
to life without it.
As for the cooking… although I enjoy it, i do not always have the
time to cook all of my meals. But so many of the foods are great
reheated. Thursday night I cooked 4 breakfast cups so that I would
have them for Fri,Sat,Sun,Mon mornings. This lessens the urge to
grab the cereal box.
Also I made 3 servings of coconut chicken so that I would have an
extra two to reheat for quick meals over the weekend. And my local
supermarket has premade hamburger patties that I can through on the
George Foreman and grill in a pinch.

Very good Rob!! I know where you are and it’s beautiful country there. I’d go back to MA in a heart beat if I could find an inexpensive area…like that would ever happen. It’s a beautiful state though.
