Phase 1 Time Period

Tuesday, November 30th, 2004

I’m interested in what list members experiences have been with how long to
stay on Phase 1. I know the minimum is two weeks, but others have posted
that they’ve pushed Phase 1 out to as long as 4 weeks. Per his book, the
good Dr. doesn’t want you to stay on Phase 1 for the entire weight loss
period, as your body will not become conditioned to the benefits of Phase 2.

Down 6 lbs after Week 1 of Phase 1

Hello from a new member

Thursday, November 25th, 2004

Hi!
I’m new to this group but am very interested in learning about the
South Beach Diet. I guess my biggest question is doing this when
I’m the only one in the family doing it. I’m mom to four kids, ages
15 to 7 1/2 and a husband. How doable is this when cooking for
six??? Any thoughts and suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

It’s like I can’t do a diet 100% for more than two weeks! Oh well,
it’s back on tomorrow am. Typically I don’t mess up for full
days…but this time, I just did! Usually it’s a meal a week…if
even. But geesh. I ended up gaining a 1/2 pound this week. :(
Ok Sara, here’s the deal. It’s over. Don’t feel guilt over it. Don’t mourn it. Just forget it and move forward. There’s nothing you can do to make up for it. Just try not to do it again. Just don’t let yourself get into a guilt thing or you won’t be able to get back into the mode for the diet. Just keep telling yourself YOU CAN DO THIS and you will. Today I’m starting my second week and so far…drum roll here I’VE LOST 8 POUNDS!!! It’s a drop in the bucket but I feel pretty sure on this plan I’ll be able to get down to a real human weight again. Maybe you need some new recipes…The Food Network has a show called Low Carb and Lovin It. He’s a South Beacher too and there are wonderful recipes there. Get yourself back on track ok? You’ll get there. Good luck to you ok?

I am doing well so far.
lost 3 lbs.

Very good!!! I’m still on phase one too. I just started on Monday the 10th. This is pretty easy for me to do and I don’t get that weak or light headed feeling during the day. My only complaint is that I don’t sleep well at night since I started this. I don’t understand why that is though. It takes me forever to fall asleep and I don’t stay asleep… Odd huh? All the best to you!!

Super Size Me

SUPER SIZE ME
Has anyone seen this documentary? If so, what are your thoughts on
it?
DH and I saw it about two months ago. I can proudly say I’ve only
eaten fast food once since then…and it was gross! LOL we still
don’t consider Subway fast food…and we eat there about twice a
month. But the documentary really made me think. It wasn’t so much
about the McDonalds, but it was about how we’re such an overweight
nation. About what they’re feeding our kids in schools…and so
on. Seeing the segment on schools, my son is only allowed to eat
school lunch twice a week now. The same school lunch program on
SUPER SIZE ME is the one used at my sons school. Shockingly, they
feed them an average of 1300 calories a day.

Kids and SBD?

I have 2 teenagers; 14 and 15, and an 11 year old. How do you all
handle the pantry and meal planning with children involved?

Let me first say I have no kids..so that makes me an expert right? LOL!! I would think though it’s never too soon to learn to eat healthy. If I did have kids I would want them to get started on a good sensible plan that will help them get through their lives without the things a lot of us are facing now. Just my two cents. I have cats and I’m trying to find a better eating plan for them too.
