I have 2 teenagers; 14 and 15, and an 11 year old. How do you all
handle the pantry and meal planning with children involved?
Let me first say I have no kids..so that makes me an expert right? LOL!! I would think though it’s never too soon to learn to eat healthy. If I did have kids I would want them to get started on a good sensible plan that will help them get through their lives without the things a lot of us are facing now. Just my two cents. I have cats and I’m trying to find a better eating plan for them too.

My kids are also slim,
however, that’s really no reason for them to continue to eat
garbage. We have an understanding that eating healthy is important
and that since Mom & Dad finance this household, the kids will follow
the rules… including about eating.
Good for you Michelle. This diet isn’t just about losing weight and being slim. It’s all about health. If you can start your kids early on the road to proper nutrition they’ll be way better off in the long run.

I only WISH my parents would have taught me the
right way to eat. I’m still stuck on my meat, veggie, & startch and
for goodness sakes…”EAT EVERYTHING ON YOUR PLATE, THERE ARE
STARVING PEOPLE OUT THERE!” LOL I now make sure to leave at least
one bite on my plate as that’s a hard thing for me to get used to!
Good luck!
Sarah
It was always that way for me too Sarah and I’m sure they (our parents and grandparents too) thought they were doing the right things. There wasn’t as much information out there then as there is now. We are all so well informed and yet we find the worst things to eat!! They say Americans are fatter now than ever before. So armed with all this diet information and all the things we know now are harmful that our parents didn’t..what’s the problem? Maybe it’s just easier to use so many prepared food loaded with who knows what chemicals and there’s always fast food or pizza..and I know we don’t get the exercise we used to. I guess all of it has contributed to our condition but…it’s not too late to break the mold. I hope the little kids today are smarter than we were and they can learn to eat properly to avoid all the problems we’re running into.
Brightest Blessings,
Sharon

LOL if you find a good eating plan for your cats…please let me
know! I have two…they’re sisters. the one is overweight, the
other is under. (hmmm can you guess what’s happening??) and the vet
wants me to fix this. um yea. It’s not working!
Sarah
Yeah, Sarah that’s a tough one. We have 3 cats. The oldest is 12 and she’s diabetic. She’s supposed to eat a special diet that can only be bought at the Vet’s office and it’s EXPENSIVE. I wouldn’t mind that so much but she tends to throw it up. UGH!! She HAS to eat. The other two are over weight and it would be good if they would eat the food suggested for the diabetic cat because of the sugar and other junk in the cat food. The Rx cat food has more fiber. It’s not easy.

There are other, better, healthier ways to feed cat than food that comes out of a bag, especially cats with health issues like diabetes. I’m sure I’ll offend some people on the list by stating that cat kibble is the equivalent of eating at McDonalds, even the Rx kibble from your vet.

I have lost 36 pounds so far and don’t even have a desire to see what “goodies” he has stashed away in his cabinet.
Good for you Toni!! I’m not sure I could be so good knowing all that other stuff was around. It’s a shame your family can’t get into a healthier eating program with you. It would prevent health problems for them down the line. I have dessert every night too..it’s called sugar free Jello!! I never thought I would eat it but you know..it’s pretty good!! It saves me some times from searching for something bad. I get it already made which seems a little nuts but it’s premeasured ad I don’t have to worry abuot portions with that.
Take care,
Sharon

Randi what you’re saying is very true. The thing is with my cat who is diabetic is that she won’t eat the W/D Hills diet that is suggested for her and it makes her sick. She has to eat because she has to take insulin twice each day. They said it’s better that she eat her normal diet and at least have food than none at all. If she doesn’t eat she can’t have her insulin. So, she eats the kitty cat junk food. Her condition is excellent as of her last tests which were last week. Sharon
