great crockpot recipe

Sunday, February 27th, 2005

I have a great veggie stew recipe that I adjusted to meet SBD
night before: take 2 cups of dark red kidney beans, put them in a pot, add
6 cups of cold water, cover and let soak 6-8 hours or over night) - canned
beans have added sugars!
cut up the following vegetables into bite-sized pieces:
eggplant (peeled), zucchini, mushrooms, 1 red, 1 green and 1 yellow bell
pepper, 1 large tomato, 1 small turnip, any other veggies you like that are
on the phase 1 or phase 2 list.
when ready to prepare, put all ingredients into your crock pot and add 1-2
cups of water
I never add spices of any kind.
leave on low for 5 hours or high for 8 hours, it’s ready when all veggies
are tender (go by the tenderness of the turnip or hardest (potatoes for
phase 2 & 3)
as it cooks, if you feel it’s too “soupy”, use a baster to suck out some of
the liquid
this is great alone, but is a great side dish for any meal. it can be
served with pasta or rice
I used to use carrots and new potatoes, but I will eventually get back to
adding 1 sweet potato instead when I’m off phase 1.

New SBD’er

Saturday, February 26th, 2005

Hi, I just started the diet yesterday and already lost 4 lbs. I
have a goal of 50 lbs to lose, this will getme to the middle of the
weight range for my height.
So far I’m doing okay. I am using regular tablespoons of sugar free
jello during the day to curb that sweet tooth. I know once I can
get back to fruit, having a little of that every day will take care
of that.
Is there any home made recipe for low fat ice cream that anyone
knows of that SBD endorses?

phase 1 & working out

Monday, February 21st, 2005

Hi all
I’m in day 5 of phase 1. To those of you who work out… how do you get through
phase 1 and working out? I went to the gym yesterday and was so weak I could
hardly finish my workout. I’m not talking about anything crazy. I was just at
Curves! I would usually grab a piece of fruit or a nutrigrain bar on my way to
the gym, but can’t do that right now. Thanks in advance.

Just joining

Friday, February 18th, 2005

I just joined about 5 minutes ago and want to introduce myself! I
had belonged to the online SBD club, had beach buddies etc, but after
my first quarter was up, I cancelled my membership because I didn’t
have time to get full value out of it and seemed to be doing okay.
I’ve been on my own since that but kept up with my beach buddies and
weighing myself every week, so I think I’m doing okay without the
support. (As I said, I don’t have time to be active anyway.)
I’m now getting close to my goal weight and realize that I don’t
understand phase 3. If the whole idea is to eat in a healthy way for
the rest of your life (which is why I chose this diet), whether
you’re losing weight or not, obviously you don’t go back to white-
flour pizza, pasta, sandwiches, etc! But there’s already so much
food to eat on this diet all day long that I’m not sure what to add
or do differently so that I don’t keep losing weight but still keep
up the healthy lifestyle.
So I need to know what to plan for in phase 3. Is anybody
experienced with that who can help? How do you eat differently to
remain healthy and not be losing (or gaining!!!!) more weight?
Thanks -

Friday, February 11th, 2005

i am new to this board, at least posting. I haven’t visited in a
while. Can anyone help me on how to get started? I am 5′2 and I
weigh 236. I don’t know where to start. So I can use all the help
and support I can get. I want a realistic goal. Maybe to just get
down to 200 for starters. Please help.

newbie question — food list

Thursday, February 10th, 2005

Hi,
Is there a (condensed) food list available anywhere? I haven’t been
able to get started as of yet and need a little help. Can someone sum
up the program in brief or direct me to a post or place?
What are people’s favorite meals, for example?
Thanks so much in advance!
