Antidepressants/Mame

Hi Mame,
Thanks for that information. Would you know if tofranil, a tricylic
antidepressant (the type that precedes the newer ones like Prozac, etc.)
in any way has an effect on weight?

Weight gain is a possible side effect of Lexapro. Have you considered
asking your doctor if you could try a different antidepressant?

    Hi Suzan, I googled tofranil and it says that weight gain is a possible side effect. I know that my older sister took it at one time and she didn’t gain weight. It seems that not everyone has the same side effects and maybe it’s a matter to trial and error to find the one that works for you without causing weight gain. Unfortunately I can imagine that doctors aren’t anxious to cooperate with the hunt for the right medicine. Good luck! If there’s anything I can help with don’t hesitate to ask.
