weight loss then holding steady

Tuesday, May 10th, 2005

Michelle,
Seems like you and I are at the same starting point, have same goals and about
the same spot…lol! Wish we lived close and could walk! I started at about
177…and am down to about 162. I would love to be around 130. I am in phase
2, eating some whole wheat bread and pasta. I don’t eat much other stage 2
foods. Pilates have really worked for me in the past and once I am well enough
to start them and walking, I plan to. Good luck, stick with it!

weight loss then holding steady

Monday, May 9th, 2005

The first week I was on the diet I lost 9 lbs. The second week I lost 1 lb.
I had lost 5 lbs before starting the diet just by cutting out pasta. So I’m
down 15 lbs from 180 to 165. My goal is 125.
This is my third week, and I’ll see by Friday ifI lost any more. But it
seems I’m holding steady. I hope it’s just a temporary plateau and that
I”ll continue to lose. I started exercising again last week (45 minutes on
my treadmill) and haven’t done it every day. I will also hopefully see my
clothes continue to grow too big for me. I went from size 18 pants to size
16 and my goal is to fit back into a 9-12.
I am staying with phase I except that I’m having a slice of whole grain
bread every day with breakfast, with a minimal amount of Smart Balance Light
on it. I really missed the fiber, which fills me up.
Anyone else plateauing and getting frustrated?
I know weight loss happens over time but I feel cheated that I lost 10 then
stopped losing. I know I’m impatient.

Hi,
I am wondering how exactly you know that you have prediabetes. I’d like to be
checked for that. I live in Canada and we don’t have always all the same tests.
Do you know the name of the test you need to get to know this?
Thanks in advance,
Suzan
Hi everyone,
I am new and just started the South Beach Diet. I have pre-diabetes
and want to do something about it before I turn 40. My weight is at
an all time high after losing 30 pounds last year on Atkins. I
enjoyed doing Atkins but once I ate a “carb”, the diet fell apart.
I like what I have read about South Beach and am impressed that I
can eventually add in whole grain products in moderation. When I
did Atkins, my blood cholesterol levels got much closer to normal
and I really felt good but you have to wonder with the high fat
content allowed on Atkins if you are doing long term damage to the
heart. I had gallbladder problems at the time so I actually stayed
more low fat on Atkins which is a big no-no. I am here to learn
more about the diet and hopefully get and share support. I have
about 40 pounds to lose.

snack

Thursday, May 5th, 2005

Hi everyone. I’ve been on this diet since last Monday and have lost
7 lbs which I am very happy about. I don’t really like eggs except
when they are deviled, so I’m having a hard time with breakfast. I
wanted to share a wonderful snack with you which I love. I buy the
slices of cheddar cheese which is made with 2% and only has 3g per
slice. I put one slice in the microwave and cook it for 1 minute.
It puffs up and looks crazy. I then peel it off of my non-stick
plastic sheet and eat it. I think it needs the little bit of fat in
it to cook up like that, but I’m not sure. It is crunchy and much
better than just a slice of cheese. I also snack a lot on pistachio
nuts. I was afraid these GOOD things might slow down my weight loss
but so far it hasn’t.

Hi - New - Need Help and Advice

Tuesday, May 3rd, 2005

Hi
I am new to the Board. Christine - Grossly overweight and never
used to be. Started to gain weight when I was 45. Now 53 and
feeling it. I was 105 when I was young. UGH. Anyway, I noticed
reference to shopping lists on the board and was unable to find any.
Can you please all help me with what direction I should be taking?
Is this just a fad diet. Have any of you been on other diets? I
have never been on a diet in my life and just want to eat food
without restricting myself with some crazy diet.
Do I need to read a book? Is there a receipe book out there? Is
there a receipe book? I would rather find a receipe board here on
line if I could. I also would rather find the instructions to the
diet here on the board if I could. Don’t want to read another book.
Just want the basics as well as the shopping list.
You can email me at the following since I don’t get individual
emails if you wish and post if you like to maddashin@…
Thanks

Hi everyone. I posted a message a couple of days ago but it didn’t
show up so I will try again. I started the sbd last Monday and so
far I have lost 7 lbs. My favorite snack food is a single slice of
2% cheddar cheese that I put in the microwave oven for 1 minute on a
non-stick sheet because it will stick to a plate. When it cools it
is a wonderful cheese crisp. The only problem is that you will
probably want more because it is soooooooo good.
