kosher dieters?

Monday, June 6th, 2005

Any kosher consumers in this group? My entire family is “on the
beach” one of my kids even came home from a friend and said,”Mom,
they
only had bad carbs for snack so I am starved!!” As a result of my
families sucess, I started guiding and counceling other kosher
consumers in adapting the south beach diet to meet the needs of the
jewish lifestyle. An off shoot of this developed into my cookbook
which I have written as a kosher cookbook/ guide to success on the
south beach diet(www.freewebs.com/heimish-meets-low-carb) and I am
always looking for other kosher south beachers to test my new
creations. Any takers? I need feedback in two areas- one how easy
is
it to follow the recipes and two for how long do you feel full after
consuming one of my suggested meals.
Thanks in advance

End of day 4 phase 1 some questions about portions and carbs

Sunday, June 5th, 2005

Hi, I am hanging in there. My husband is doing the diet with me.
Only the first two days did I get bad carb cravings. I think I may be
eating too much of the approved foods but I am hungry! For instance,
I had a romaine salad with feta cheese and some rolled up low fat ham
for dinner, later I had a handful of almonds, just now a few hours
later, I was hungry again, so I had some broccoli and kale sauteed in
a little olive oil, about 3 ounces of chicken breast and some more
feta cheese. For dessert I had a sugar free fudgie with natural
peanut butter spread on it. So, am I eating too much? My next
question is about carbs. Do I have to eat a lot of beans to get the
carbs since this is supposed to be a diet that includes carbs? Should
I just not worry about trying to get carbs in? I drink 8 ounces of V8
juice with my eggs for breakfast and about 6 ounces of V8 juice with
my lunch. I also have I guess about 4 ounces total of plain soy milk
or skim milk in my coffee in the morning. I noticed I have been
walking around with a metallic taste in my mouth since day 3. Any
reason why? I am drinking plenty of water. I bring a liter to work
everyday and go through the whole thing in 6 hours. So, any advice
would be appreciated.

loving it!

My wife and I love the South Beach Diet. I hate that four letter word
because for us it has become a lifestyle. We are starting our 10th
week and I am down 18 pounds, my wife 26. We are well on our way to
135 and 150 pounds. I can’t tell you enough how much this has changed
our life. We exercise six days a week, even if it just a 40 minute
walk and I am telling you, exercise will speed up the weight loss a lot
quicker than just following the eating plan will. We went this weekend
to get new clothes, my wife has dropped 2 sizes and I have gone down
one size in pants. We will eat this way for the rest of our lives!
