introduce myself

Wednesday, August 31st, 2005

Greetings fellow dieters!
I’ve also noted the slowness in receiving messages
from this group, let’s speed things up a bit!!
I bought my SB book last fall, but didn’t have the
courage to start until April 1st…
I was 40 # overweight, but my height is 5′9″ and
I was able to carry the overload well. Since starting
4/1/05 I’ve gone down 2 sizes in clothing, really lost
on my belly, and am enjoying the food.
I’m still doing MOSTLY phase one… but plan on
going to phase 2 on May 30th.
I’ve lost 15#, but alot of inches. My exercise
is lots of walking. But need to incorporate strength
training now.
I joined the SB diet online, and tho it’s $5 a week,
I find it very beneficial, and a worthwhile investment.
The boards there are a nightmare :-) I haven’t figured
out the navigation yet, but am hoping this board
picks up speed.
Lets start cheering each other on~ and remember
this is a way of life, not a ‘diet’… the health benefits
out weigh the foods I think I may be missing!
I do get cravings, but then remember - hey, I’ve
already ate my fill of doughnuts prior April 1st.
And it helps!
Take care all, keep up the good work, I’m here
to cheer you on!

Dairy question

Saturday, August 27th, 2005

I’ve been trying to drink milk as a nutritious routine. Does anyone
know what the limitations (if any) are on drinking skim milk. Must I
limit it to a “snack”? Can I drink it at will? Your help is much
appreciated.

I joined a few weeks ago…sent a message that never went through. Then got
about three
messages, and now nothing.
I’ve had no response from the list owner. Can someone help me join this list?
Thanks!

day one and already have a question

Monday, August 8th, 2005

Hello, this is my day one of the diet. So far so good. Haven’t been
hungry and been full of energy. Any how I do have a question. I
noticed that in the 1st two weeks, there isn’t any alcohol. I come
from a family that has a glass of wine (red) after dinner or during
each night. It’s just one glass sometimes two but not often.
Anyways, I’m just wondering if my weight loss will be much different
if I still had my glass of wine a night with dinner? I see it’s
allowed after phase 1 so I don’t see the problem, but I’m new so
please bare with me.
Thanks, Carmen in CT.

veggie burgers

Hi,
I wanted to ask if any type of veggie burgers are okay on SBD, of
course without the bun.
Thanks
Kathy

Turkey Reuben Sandwich

Friday, August 5th, 2005

Hey
One of the things I found yummy for my lunches. Is taking 2 slices of
turkey lunch meat, slice of swiss cheese, saurkraut, rolling it up
before heating it and dipping it into some sugar free or “Just 2 Good”
Thousand Island Dressing.
Also, when I have made the cooked oatmeal, to jazz up the taste I added
a couple sprays of the Smart Balance Butter and some of the sugar free
black berry jam from smuckers. Great alternative to eating eggs
everyday.

SBD and Sleep

Thursday, August 4th, 2005

I was curious if anyone has noticed a change in their sleep pattern
since starting the diet. Since I started the diet 3 weeks ago, I have
had a terrible time sleeping. I go to bed and im tired but cant get to
sleep and I lie there wide awake until like 4-5 am and I have to be up
at 6am!! Im not drinking much caffeine and actually limited the
caffeine since starting the diet. So I don’t think that is my problem.
I don’t think that it’s stress or anything either. I’m a person who can
sleep anywhere at any time usually. I would love to hear some
feedback. Anyone else with similar problem since starting the diet??
Thanks, Sandie

Just joined you, just started the diet on Monday at my Drs recommendation. I’ve
got
slightly high blood pressure, nothing that I can’t take care of with diet and
exercise. The
weight goal is to lose 35 pounds. The exercise goal is walking and strength
training.
Four days into it, so far so good. Starting at the beginning with the
induction. Certainly
not hungry. Lunch and dinner are easy. Breakfast with eggs is always hard, so
I’ll look
forward to celebrating with cereal soon enough…or I’ll just eat something more
usually
eaten at another time of the day and forgo the eggs.
Only think I really miss is fruit. I’m a pretty “nautral” unprocessed kind of
eater, and love
to cook. Not vegetarian, but not a big meat eater.
Anyway…look forward to “meeting” the group and thanks in advance,
Sarah
