Arrowroot?

In the SBD recipe book I found a recipe for Teriyaki sauce but what is
ground Arrowroot and where can I find it. I have tried 3 groceries and
no luck yet.
Thanks, Aaron

  1. Angel Alaina Says:

    Arrowroot is a thickening agent.
I found this on the net:
Arrowroot mixtures thicken at a lower temperature than
mixtures made with flour or cornstarch. Mix Arrowroot
with cool liquids before adding hot liquids, then cook
until mixture thickens. Remove immediately to prevent
mixture from thinning. Two teaspoons of Arrowroot can
be substituted for 1 tablespoon of cornstarch. One
teaspoon of Arrowroot can be substituted for 1
tablespoon of flour. Arrowroot makes clear, shimmering
fruit gels and prevents ice crystals from forming in
    homemade ice cream.
Try looking by the cornstarch. Look in your healthfood
store. Albertsons will order it in if they can get it.
If that doesn’t work, try substituting xantham gum.
