SBD bb …

Sunday, February 26th, 2006

Well … it appears that http://sbdbb.com got hacked and we will need
some time to get it back up … we would also like to do an upgrade
while we are at it.
So we have a temporary home at http://adbb.org …
http://www.adbb.org/forumdisplay.php?f=90
Basically the deal is that adbb.org has tons of low carb, diet,
execise information. So we will have a temporary space there for SB
discussions. I feel that it should be a good fit since there is
traffic there and lots of info.
Please go there and take a look and let me know if it will be OK to
use that space as a temporary place where we can post.
Thanks

condiments/ cheeses/ yeast

Thursday, February 23rd, 2006

Is there a list of condiments you can put on foods?
Which cheeses can and can’t you eat? I love a special string cheese -
Karoun-which has the right seeds in it and is described as ‘made with
part skim milk’ Is this ok for stage 1?
I am a male who has a problem with yeast and diarrhea? Does anyone
know if this diet keeps this away? Experiences? Is this affected by
limburger cheese spread? [The dogs form a line by me within 15 seconds
of me opening a jar on another floor….]

Hello to you all!

Monday, February 20th, 2006

I am a new member of this group, and hope to hear good ideas from
those, who have already follow this diet. I am a portuguese woman and
I live in Lisbon, Portugal. I have to loose about 60 pounds, for
health reasons and high blood tension. So, I bought the South Beach
Diet Book, and I intend to follow this diet. I think it will be
easier, joined to a group of people who is also in the same “boat” as
me.
Hope we’ll reach all of us, our goals.
Love

Phase II crackers

Monday, February 20th, 2006

Hi!
I’m half way through phase I and I am looking toward crackers in Phase
II. Besides Triskets and Ryecrisp, what other crackers can we have?
I got some SBD wheat crackers today, but looking for other brands as
well.
Thanks in advance!

South Beach can work on vacation!

Saturday, February 18th, 2006

I am very happy to report that my wife and I just got back from a 7
day cruise and we were very successful at maintaining exactly where we
were before we left. We had just completed the second week of phase 2
before the trip. While the temptation was there, we were able to find
plenty to eat. After the first night, the waiter knew, no potatos, but
to add steamed veggies. For dessert, we either had a sugar free
dessert or just a taste of something else. I will say that I expected
more of a low carb diet. They had something they called a Spa menu
that was supposed to be the healthy choice.
Now its back to phase 2 full steam ahead!

New to Diet and Group

Monday, February 13th, 2006

Hello,
My wife and I are on our second week of Phase I, so we are very new to
this diet. She has lost 8 pounds and I have lost 5. So far so good.
I had a question I was hoping someone may know the answer to. In the
book, under Phase I Food to enjoy, Beans are listed. But in Phase 2
under foods to add back in, Pinto Beans are listed. We live in
Arkansas, so beans are a big part of our diet. Does anyone know if
white beans, such as Navy Beans are okay to eat during Phase I?
Thanks,
Allan

update

Sunday, February 12th, 2006

Hey. this list sure has been quite, or less I’ve been
bouncing?
Just wanted to share my good news :-) I’ve lost 33 lbs - 7 more to go!
It’s hard to find clothes now that are not the in-between
sizes I need…
I really enjoy my new lifestyle; I know I’ll never stray
far from the “beach”.. now to only get my husband
to realize he CAN do this also, and still maintain his
energy levels.
We run a fairly good size farm operation here, along
with ranching, so he is a big beef eater, and does alot of
physical work.
How about any one else out there?
Are you able to follow the phase 2 diet without feeling
weak because of physical work?
Please let me know what works for you.
Thanks!!

plateau problems

Wednesday, February 8th, 2006

Plateau Problems
(Published 7/08/05) It is not uncommon to reach a plateau in
Phase 2 of The South Beach DietT, especially as you get closer to your
target weight. If your weight loss has stalled, here are three
strategies for getting back on track:
1.. Try eating different foods. Sometimes dieters get into a
food rut, eating the same things day in and out. Change your diet and
you may start losing weight again.
2.. Get adequate exercise. Plateauing may result from losing
too much muscle mass (as well as fat). Maintaining muscle mass with
exercise helps burn calories and boost metabolism.
3.. Return to Phase 1. If you have plateaued for several weeks
and still have a fair amount of weight to lose, return to Phase 1 for
a kick-start
