Boiled Omelet

Tuesday, October 10th, 2006

I got this from another website. Since we all have to eat more eggs
than we would like to ever see again I thought it might be helpful.
Make ahead and boil which sound weird, but I am willing to try
anything.
For those of you who have not tried Turkey Bacon, it passed mine and
my non-dieting husband’s taste buds.
OMELETS IN A BAG
Have you ever heard of this?
(This works great! Good for when all your family is together and no
one
has to wait for their special omelet)
Have guests write their name on a
quart-size freezer bag with permanent marker.
Crack 2 eggs (large or extra-large) into the bag
(not more than 2)
shake to combine them .
Put out a variety of ingredients such as:
cheeses, ham, onion, green pepper, tomato, hash browns, salsa, etc.
Each guest adds prepared ingredients
of choice to their bag and shake,
Make sure to get the air out of the bag
and zip it up.
Place the bags into rolling,
boiling water for exactly 13 minutes.
You can usually cook
6-8 omelets in a large pot.
For more, make another pot of
boiling water.
Open the bags and the omelet will
roll out easily.
Be prepared for everyone to be amazed.
Hope this helps,
Lois

need advice

Monday, October 9th, 2006

I have been on SBD for about 7 months and have lost 30 lbs. Yea!
However, for the past 2 months have not lost a lb. But yea, have not
gained any either. So, I figure I’ve gotten sloppy with the
diet…heck..I know I have. So I started phase 1 this week. I only
have the “abridged” addition book and it doesn’t address this issue.
I am wondering about acceptable daily quantities allowed or suggested
for meats, cheese, milk, poultry and fish. Any ideas? - Pam/Texas

Whole Foods

Sunday, October 8th, 2006

I love Whole Foods. I went there yesterday and I found so many
delicious foods that will help me get going on this lifestyle. I feel
off the diet changes after a month (this summer) and I gained all my
weight back. My cardiologist told me I need to lose some weight and
exercise so I am back on trying to change my bad habits. I found the
hardest thing for me was to find foods I enjoyed - I admit I am a
foody- I love food. Its really hard to not eat sugar. I can go
without bread and that sort of thing. At least at Whole Foods, I
found delicious prepared vegetable items in their deli. Prepared
chicken is right there for my lunch. I feel more optomistic after
going there, even though they are more expensive. I feel that if this
will help me eat better, I am going to spend the extra money.
I really enjoy the recipes that everyone shares on here. They have
been invaluable help and I am not creative like many of you are.
Thanks for all the great recipes!!!

Bean threads?

Friday, October 6th, 2006

Are bean threads (aka, cellophane noodles, clear noodles) listed in
the book? I made chop chae last night instead of rice to serve with
beef satay. I’d like to think the chop chae is SB when Splenda is
used instead of sugar. The recipe I used last night needs to be
tweaked a little. It wasn’t entirely authentic. For instance,
Koreans don’t usually used celery or snow peas when they cook. I’ll
probably take those out and put in zucchini and spinach and possibly
soy bean sprouts instead. Oh, and green onion. The recipe I used
didn’t have that, either.

I am on SBD, phase one, and am wondering about how much meat, eggs,
cheese, fish, poultry and milk would be acceptable for one day of
eating.

Fit day question

Tuesday, October 3rd, 2006

For those that use fit-day.com… After I plug in my daily meals and
look at the pie chart, I see that my calories are split about equal
between fat and protein. Is this correct? I’m concerned that I have
too much fat in my diet, or is this the norm? (I’m on P1) :) Kim

Does anyone have a recipe for Vegetable Quiche

Sunday, October 1st, 2006

Hi, I’m new here and have seen some post referring to a vegetable
quiche. Does anyone have a recipe they could send me for this??
Please post it here if you can. I really appreciate it.
I will probably start Phase 1 tommorow. I’m a little in the dark, as
I haven’t gotten my SBD book from the library yet. I have the food
list.
Thanks..Rhonda
