question about sugar free products

I know in the South Beach book it says to limit sugar free treats to
75 calories, because alcohol sugars can bloat you and interfere with
the GI tract.
I have ate a few sugar free fudge sickles and chewed some sugar free
gum (under 75 cals). I felt like I was totally bloated and in pain.
I swear my stomach grew about 3 inches. My pants were so tight that I
couldn’t button them. I will weigh in tommorow to see if I have
gained some weight. I was wondering if anyone else has exerperienced
problems with sugar free stuff.
Does splenda make you bloated too? I generally didn’t eat any
artificial sweetners before South Beach, so maybe my body isn’t
reacting well to them. I did have a diet soda one time per day before
South Beach.
Thanks for your input..RHonda

I made the veggie guiche cups that are in the book… i just have one question… does any one have the same problems I do with them?? If I follow the recipe there’s not enough egg, I make 12 guiches ( 6 servings) but the cups are only 1/3- 1/2 filled and the guiche sticks to the baking cups and most of that is wasted because I can’t just get it off the paper.

So.. I only get about 1-2 teaspoons of edible food…

Can I add more egg to the recipe to bulk it up?? and any advice on keeping the guiche from sticking to the baking cups??

    Thanks!!

Oh I did that once. It was terrible. I am never doing that again.

I binged on sugar-free candy once. The results were rather unpleasant. In my opinion, the more you avoid the Franken-foods, the better off you’ll be. We did not evolve to eat them.

    Hi everyone!
I just wanted to introduce myself and give a little background. My name
is Dawn and I live in Central IL. I am a single mother of a beautiful 6
    year old girl.
I started my weight battle a couple of years ago when a tumor was found
on my thyroid. I was already about 20-30 lbs overweight still from
having my daughter. Within 3 months between the time they found the
tumor and when they surgically removed my thyroid, I gained around 60
    lbs.
I started at 230 lbs and went on Dr. Phil’s Ultimate Weight Solution. I
lost about 40-45 lbs but gained some back. I am now at 210 and have a
goal weight of 140. The day after my 30th birthday (this past June) I
found out that I have a heart condition. I am on medication for that
and also my thyroid. My dr has stated that I will have an uphill battle
with weight loss due to these medications.
My daughter is also overweight so I really need a lifestyle change. I
am currently reading the South Beach Diet and plan to start as soon as
    I’m finished.
Between not feeling good due to health issues and just dealing with some
depression things in my life right now, I just need support and
    motivation to keep going!
Thank you for letting me join your group!
