I would only start out with one or two a week to see if you’ll continue to lose and not stall or gain. If you can lose with one or two, then add one more….
Good luck!

I only want to take advance a few times a week when I just don’t feel like cooking or throwing together a salad. And was wondering if anyone experieced negative effects from eating them.
I’ve read that you should drink half your weight in ounces of water… if you weigh 100 lbs, you drink 50 oz.

oh and I drink more than that amount of water daily most days…
I’ve heard that you need an extra 50 oz or so when losing weight
or in order to lose weight. But at least you are getting that much.
I would probably contact your doctor so that he can encourage you in the
weight loss dept. anyway. He might even know of some simple things that will
help you….
sorry that you are suffering

Of course, you will not be able to lose
weight while pregnant,
Rhonda, this is absolutely not true for someone who has as much to lose as Pam. When put on a diabetic diet during pregnancy, mother-to-be does lose weight, and has a healthy baby for it. You have to be especially careful while pregnant and diabetic, or the baby could suffer in many ways.. from low blood sugar after delivery to death prior to delivery. Every diabetic mother to be I’ve know, who were strict on their diets for the baby’s sake, did lose weight.
Now, mind you, I’m talking about mother who started out the pregnancies in the 200+ range.
Phase 2 is wonderful for pregnancy .. although Pam will have to be very careful as to what and how much fruits.. that sort of thing. Diabetes tends to get worse during pregnancy, but can be controled with diet and/or medication.
Pam, I’m not trying to scare you, but rather encourage you. I’ve personally know several women who have gone thru pregnancies, followed the diets, and delivered healthy, happy babies. And, I don’t personally know any who didn’t….

Pam, You gotta know I am so excited for you!!
I think South Beach will be the perfect diet for your pregnancy. I wish I would have had the courage to stick with SB while pregnant. Actually, I was gestational diabetic with my #4. I weighed less after delivery than I did before pregnant, staying on a lower carb, lower fat diet. My sister we gd, too, and weighed 20 lbs less when she checked into the hospital to deliver her 2 week over-due baby, following a very strict low-carb diet.. Her baby was very healthy, too - over 8 lbs.
This time around, I started out in size 12s and wasn’t too concerned with it.. after all, I was pg, and should gain some weight.. I just have still kept in around - all over.
When is your baby due?? All the details, please!!
Becky ~

I just had my 39 birthday last week. I also found out I am pregnant. I was surprised. As I have said before I am diabetic and I am doing this diet to help with bloodsugar issues. I am excited to get a baby but a bit worried about learning to eat healthy for diabetis when I am pregnant.
Has anyone eatten SB while expecting and did everything go OK?
Now I know why everything was shrinking except my stomach. LOL
Pam
Hi All.
Back from our trip, and only 2 extra lbs to lose.. wonderful for me, since we ate out every meal and snack!!
Julie, Thanks for sharing that site.. I haven’t found any steal cut oats locally, and was wondering from where to order.
Chantelle… You are not going to believe this… I used to live in Georgia!! - Macon. (but never went to Helen that I can remember)
My late husband, and my current husband are Georgia boys! My two girls were born in Macon. We sure have a lot to talk about!! The WWW sure makes this world a smaller place.

I didn’t think I’d miss this list so much, but I thought about you all the whole time I was gone!! —back to reading!

In the book it says to limit the “sweet treats” to 75 calories a day. So you just look at the calories. I am not sure if this is what you want to know.
Pam
Question - I hear everyone mentioning sweet calories, but where do you
find this information on the boxes? Are you refering to grams of
sugar/sweetner? I’m confused! I don’t eat many sweets at all now
(About 2 packs of splenda a day), but would like to keep track
especially now that I’m headed into P2…
Thanks!
Kim
hi everyone
I’ve been reading the problems many of you are having from all the sugar free foods, and something suddenly dawned on me as I’m scooping some of my soup into a bowl. I had joined the SBD online and some of the women I chatted with there told me that a MUST on this diet are BEANS! They told me to make sure I have beans every day because they really do help with the weight loss. Now that I think about it, I’m sure the beans help to keep things moving along, if you know what I mean.
We’re in the midst of a Nor’easter here in RI, so I’m having escarole and beans soup and that’s what reminded me. I hope this helps someone else, too.
