I know it is hard to change cooking habits but you can cook SB foods very easily. I like to cook enough when I cook so we have leftovers for future meals.

as far as price goes, I have had to change to organic meats which are really expensive so I have started to suppliment it with other proteins like beans, and tofu. even the eggs are expensive when they are organic, I think it was about $1.80 for six eggs. I have been sick so long and not feeling like I could even keep up with my own needs let alone my 92 year old mother who lives with me that I will work something out so we can eat healthy.

I also found that I don't need to eat near the volume I did before south beach and starting my diabetic meds. I'm not hungary all the time. I read somewhere that they put things in processed foods to make you feel hungary so you will eat and buy more. At the time I was very skeptical but now I really wonder. My diabetic pills are supposed to make me gain weight but I have been losing since I started SB and them about the same time. Who knows what is the cause.

I just encourage all of you to keep at it because the new good habits of cooking and eating and even the taste change with time and become as second nature as the old unhealthy habits were.

sounds like you are doing great. I don't know if I will ever be able to get off medication. But, I am glad it is there.

Stevia is an herb. It is sold as a diatary suppliment in the US. It cannot be called a sweetener here. Although it tastes sweet. I think it was 200 times sweeter than sugar. There is no carbs or calories. Other countries use it. It is mentioned in my SB book but I guess they elliminated it because the US doesn't allow it to be sole as a sweetener. Some people do find that it has a licorice like after taste. It works well for things that you don't want to be very sweet.

The story I heard as to why it is not sold here in this country is some some company was marketing it under the name Natural Sweet and Nutra sweet did not like that and so they lobbied to get it restricted. I don't remember my sources.

I even read that it is supposed to help with pancrease health. Wouldn't that be great.

I agree with you as to tastes changing. I think that is the best part about SB. I am learning to like lots of Veggies and eat in proportions that I did not understand before. It is really helping me.

I am on Avandimet twice a day. It is doing a great job, my BS's morning and bedtime run in the 90's. Refresh my mind on what Stevia is, I know I used to know.

I was just realizing as I sat down to answer e-mail that my tastes have changed a lot. I didn't used to like anything but creamers or heavy whipping cream in my coffee, now I'm fine with rice milk. That is real good. I have lost 35 lbs and want to lose about 50 more at least. Hoping then I can go off the meds for BS.

Any one know if its OK to have the PHASE 1 OK frozen meals several times a week?? I really want to take advantage of them maybe for 2 lunches and 1 or 2 dinners a week.. I just don't have the time or energy to do all the cooking that's required with eating so healthy. :)

Has anyone tried them? Any stalling in weight loss or inches? Or cravings after eating them? I noticed that all the meals have several grams of Sugar, but after reading the ingredients labels it appears to be from naturally occurring sugars in veggies.

PS. I'm on my third day of Phase 1, as of Yesterday night ( second day) I've lost 2.5 lbs! I'm expecting to fluctuate several times but I thought that was great for 2 days! My goal is to lose 40-45 lbs of fat and then work on gaining about 15 lbs of muscle to tone up my skin after the weight loss. I've already lost 35 lbs on just cutting back on portions, but I've been stalled for a 2 months now and was still eating loads of unhealthy stuff.. so thats why I'm doing South Beach.. Hopefully its something I'll be able to stick with in the long run.
