Of course, you will not be able to lose
weight while pregnant,
Rhonda, this is absolutely not true for someone who has as much to lose as Pam. When put on a diabetic diet during pregnancy, mother-to-be does lose weight, and has a healthy baby for it. You have to be especially careful while pregnant and diabetic, or the baby could suffer in many ways.. from low blood sugar after delivery to death prior to delivery. Every diabetic mother to be I’ve know, who were strict on their diets for the baby’s sake, did lose weight.
Now, mind you, I’m talking about mother who started out the pregnancies in the 200+ range.
Phase 2 is wonderful for pregnancy .. although Pam will have to be very careful as to what and how much fruits.. that sort of thing. Diabetes tends to get worse during pregnancy, but can be controled with diet and/or medication.
Pam, I’m not trying to scare you, but rather encourage you. I’ve personally know several women who have gone thru pregnancies, followed the diets, and delivered healthy, happy babies. And, I don’t personally know any who didn’t….

My goals have changed. I began this to lose weight and control my bloodsugar. My first goal was my bloodsugar. Then I began losing weight. That was very motivational. Now I am changing my focus to keeping my bloodsugar in check. I am not as motivated by weight. I will change to whatever is reccommended when I get to talk with the doc.
I am eating SB principles according to how my bloodsugar has been same as before. That is how I choose if I can eat a few carbs. I will change that if the doctor reccomends it.
But eating a low carb diet and in the portions reccomended MAY cause weight loss. If that is a side affect there is not much I can do about it. Especially if I am eating plenty of healthy vegetables and the correct amount of protein..
Becky, I am not scared by your information. I know there are potencial difficulties when diabetic and pregnant. I am just hoping and praying this little one will be healthy too.
Pam
I lost body weight when I was pregnant and didn’t weigh over 200. My babies certainly weren’t deprived weighing in a 10 pounds plus at birth. They checked me for gd but it was negative. After my first delivery I weighed less than I had in junior high. Too bad it didn’t stay off.
I think it is a good time to lose weight as long as you eat healthy.

I had a friend who was normal weight when she started. had gestational diabetes, followed the diet strictly and lost weight greatly
chantelle
during the pregnancy. So much so that she wore her “regular” jeans home from the hospital! all her friends were jealous.
I didn’t have gestational diabetes (well I’m not sure I tested for it…i kept planning to, but I tested my blood sugar and it was always normal so I gave up on thinking I had that). I did gain weight during pregancy…
cna’t rem what else I was going to say…
sending this post now.. it has sat on my computer for over a day
