Hi all,
Finally I think we got this right. I created the BB

This is a great site where we will also be able to do journals
recipes discussions private messaging recipes the whole works.
I really could use some help getting it going. Currently we have 4
members and are trying to get posts flowing. I would really like it
if people from this list can go there and join and make a few
posts … answer a few question post a recipe discuss something in
chit chat or whatever.
The site is :

Layered Crockpot Dinner

Monday, May 28th, 2007

Does this recipe look SBD friendly to you? I’m new at this it looks ok to me but not really sure. I’ve worked hard on Phase 1 and don’t want screw up Phase 2 when I start next Monday but still have to feed the non-SBDers in the home….

Layered Crockpot Dinner
1 lb lean ground beef
2 tablespoons imitation bacon bits
1 small onion, chopped
15 oz can tomato sauce
1/2 cup water
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
2/3 cup brown rice
1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper
Crumble ground beef evenly over bottom of a slow cooker. Sprinkle with bacon bits, then onion. In a medium bowl, combine tomato sauce, water, chili powder, salt, and black pepper; pour half over beef and onion layers. Sprinkle rice evenly over top, then top with remaining tomato sauce mixture, then bell pepper. Cover and cook on LOW about 5 hours or until rice is tender.

50 lb weight gain

Monday, May 21st, 2007

I’m going to go out on a limb, and suggest a thyroid check as well as your diet, 50 lbs out of the blue is a LOT. Perhaps their were huge eating changes, but often as we age, our thyroid produces less hormone which can lead to slower metabolism and weight gain, and make it super slow to lose it.
EVEN a low NORMAL diagnosis that gets treatment can aid in metabolism, mood and weight loss. I myself had a great osteopath who recognized my symptoms and treated me with a VERY SMALL dose of sythetic thyroid hormone and it did wonders, even I was amazed beyond belief. Not with the weight loss which was minimal, but helpful. But REALLY my mind got so much clearer. I had become sort of hazy in my comprehension of new things,and that was another sign of low thryoid.
I’m posting symptoms here, but you DON’T have to have these to be suffering from low normal thyroid. YOu also can HAVE all these and normal thyroid diagnosis and still benefit from treatment.
It’s a mondo undiagnosed condition, your best bet is to seek an osteopath or dr who is very versed in treatment of this.
What are the signs and symptoms of the disease?
Only subtle symptoms may occur early in the course of hypothyroidism. These may include:
* fatigue
* decreased concentration
* intolerance to cold environments
* constipation
* loss of appetite
* muscle cramping and stiffness
* weight gain

Some individuals may notice hair loss, dry skin, or nail changes. If left untreated, the symptoms of hypothyroidism will progress. This can lead to fluid retention around the eyes or legs.

ES cheese and bread and potatoes! Thank GOD we can still have CHEESE!!!!!

I need to lose about 50 lbs - I NEVER had to watch what I ate in school AT ALL. I got married at 110 lbs (and thought I was fat then too! LOL), after my 1st child - I weighed 118, after #2, 3 and 4 I weighed 128 (which 125 was the small frame for 5′2″, so was *supposed* to be right on then,,…) BUT, when I turned (NOT 35) but 37……I gained almost 50 lbs in 1 year!!!! ugh!

Day 5 of Phase 1

Wednesday, May 16th, 2007

Hello to all! I’m back once again. Doing well, just feeling a little
tired. I guess that’s to be expected. Anyone have any decent yummy
simple lunch ideas? I don’t do eggs. Hopefully someone can share the
love. I posted on another website on my 3rd day and no one posted
anything on my reply. Would be appreciated. GOd Bless to all and
Happy New Year!

Check in

Tuesday, May 15th, 2007

Hi all, I just wanted to post that I have done very well with
following the South Beach principles. I’m down to my goal weight of
142.
I just wanted to thank everyone for their recipes and support when I
first started out with South Beach stuff. I try to follow the general
concepts and definitely know when I have ate something that is causing
cravings. I probably eat more bread than most, usually about 3
servings a day. And eat fruit too. I’m really eating the way I did
before South Beach with the no white stuff and no sugar. Reading the
South Beach book and using some websites, like this one, has really
helped me fine tune my eating.

baking alternatives

Sunday, May 13th, 2007

I am not a very crafty person (or a baker), but one thing I did with my kids
when they were young was the stained glass ornament kits. You can pick them
up rather cheaply at dollar stores. It’s a metal cut out with little glass
beads - you place it on aluminum foil, fill the shape with different color
beads, then bake in the oven to melt the galss. Get one of those stick on
suction cups, and you can hang them in the windows. They are really cute,
and you get your baking in LOL.
