low carb and high fat vs healthy carb and healthy fat

Monday, July 30th, 2007

How is Atkins restrictive, and SBD not? Can u explain?
Although the SBD is restrictive in P1, it’s nowhere near the same degree of restriction as Atkins. On Atkins, you’re actually counting carbs; on the SBD, you can get as many carbs in as you like so long as you stick to the foods to enjoy list. You’ll have a hard time getting a carb load using that list since it excludes grains, but in theory you could get quite a bit more carbs than you would during Induction. During the second stage of each diet, the differences are stark as well. On the SBD, you reintroduce grains; do that on Atkins and you won’t get ketosis. Another major difference are the levels of fat and protein; both are VERY high on Atkins while on the SBD you tend to stay around the recommended norms.
There are similarities, of course but the biggest difference lies in the carbs and the fats; Atkins is low carb and high fat, SBD is healthy carb and healthy fat.

Atkins and South Beach (LMAO)

Thursday, July 26th, 2007

hmm

While I was actively on SBD I found that I lost 6 lbs without even really trying. You are supposed to cut out all carbs in phase one due to the fact that any breads, pasta, potatoes, etc, will cause u to gain the weight back a lot faster than while still eating them in moderation. If someone can give me GOOD pros/cons of Akins vs SBD, I’d be more than happy to check it out. BUT, since everyone just loves to bitch and cut ppl down (indirectly), then I won’t even bother.
Everyone has their own opinions, and should be free to express them. I admit that I am close-minded about Atkins- I’ve heard that it can cause health probs, and quite frankly, a diet like that is NOT worth my time.
Like I said, pros/cons lol

DECENT ones.
